  Interviewing Strategies

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Topic: Stephanie Hester will use the DISC, a neutral, universal language of “how we act,” to give insight into behavioral styles (ours and others’).  By understanding these behavioral styles we increase our ability to communicate effectively, appreciate behavioral differences, and increase our endorsement and influence leading, ultimately, to motivated employees, stronger teams, and increased sales.

Benefits of understanding the DISC language include:

?          Gaining Commitment and Cooperation – The adage “birds of a feather flock together” holds true.  People tend to be drawn to, trust and work well with others who are like themselves.  DISC provides insight into how to blend your behavioral style with others’ to provide the most comfortable and effective environment.

?          Building Effective Teams – Training your team in the DISC language provides an awareness and appreciation of behavioral differences.  This awareness leads to increased communication and team motivation.

?          Resolving and Preventing Conflict – Understanding behavioral differences and preferences allow you to meet the behavioral needs of others, diffusing conflict even before it begins.

?          Gaining Endorsement/Credibility/Influence – Every interaction we have with another individual either increases or decreases our endorsement with that individual.  As a direct result we are either deemed deserving of their time or not.  By understanding the individual’s behavioral style we can adapt to that style increasing our opportunity to gain their endorsement.

Understanding the DISC language not only enhances internal communications, efficiency and productivity, but it can also be applied to external communications including sales increasing the ability to connect with clients.
